Nigeria Vs Guinea-Bissau: Super Eagles Name Starting Eleven For AFCON Qualifier

Super Eagles captain Alex Iwobi will lead Nigeria against Guinea-Bissau in Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match at the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau.

According to Bush Radio Academy, head coach Éric Chelle has made several changes to the team that started Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their opening Group L qualifier on Friday, September 25.

Iwobi has been handed the captain’s armband, while Wilfred Ndidi retains his place in midfield. Frank Onyeka and Taiwo Awoniyi have been brought into the starting lineup, with George Ilenikhena and Samuel Chukwueze dropping to the substitutes’ bench.

Chelle has maintained the same defensive setup that featured against Madagascar, with Stanley Nwabali continuing in goal. Ademola Lookman also keeps his place in the starting XI, while Akor Adams will partner Awoniyi in attack as the Super Eagles seek another victory in the qualifying campaign.

Iwobi, who made his 102nd appearance for Nigeria against Madagascar, has joined the country’s 100-cap club alongside Moses Simon, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo and Ahmed Musa.

The Super Eagles starting lineup comprises Stanley Nwabali, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Bruno Onyemaechi, Wilfred Ndidi, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Frank Onyeka, Taiwo Awoniyi, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Akor Adams.

Nigeria’s substitutes are Tolu Arokodare, Nwaiwu, Maduka Okoye, George Ilenikhena, Isaac, Moses Simon, Arthur Okonkwo, Samuel Chukwueze, Raphael Onyedika, Moses and Ola Aina.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 5pm Nigerian time, with both Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau looking to build on victories from their opening Group L fixtures.

The encounter at the 15,000-capacity Estádio 24 de Setembro will be officiated by Ethiopian referee Tewodros M.
