Nigeria Welcomes Back Emirates Airlines As Operations Set To Resume

The airline intends to operate the service using a Boeing 777-300ER. The outbound flight, EK783, will depart from Dubai at 0945hrs and arrive in Lagos at 1520hrs. Conversely, the return flight, EK784, will depart Lagos at 1730hrs and reach Dubai at 0510hrs the following day.

In a tweet, Emirates expressed its eagerness to recommence services to Nigeria, particularly to Lagos, from October 1, 2024, promising unmatched connectivity to Dubai and beyond, spanning over 140 cities.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, conveyed excitement about resuming services to Nigeria. He highlighted the popularity of the Lagos-Dubai route among Nigerian customers and expressed hopes to reconnect both leisure and business travelers to Dubai and the airline’s extensive network.

Emirates presently operates to 19 gateways across Africa with 157 flights per week from Dubai. Additionally, it has extensive reach to 130 regional points in Africa through codeshare and interline partnerships with airlines such as South African Airways, Airlink, Royal Air Maroc, and Tunis Air.

Given Nigeria’s significance as a major economic hub in Africa and its robust bilateral trade relations with the UAE, particularly exemplified by Lagos as the commercial epicenter, Emirates anticipates further enhancing these ties with the resumption of daily passenger flights. Moreover, Emirates SkyCargo, the airline’s cargo division, aims to reinforce the trade relationship by providing over 300 tonnes of bellyhold cargo capacity in and out of Lagos every week.

This development follows earlier hints from Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN.
