Our private military company has partnered with the government, and we have been working alongside the Nigerian military in several regions, including Niger, Plateau, Abia, Imo, parts of Rivers State, and even Anambra. The local communities have praised our efforts.”
However, responding to these claims, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, clarified the Army’s stance to The PUNCH.
He emphasized that the Army had never been engaged in any joint operations or partnerships with Asari-Dokubo’s private security entity.
Nwachukwu stated, “Based on Dokubo’s interview, he asserts ownership of a private military company contracted by the Nigerian government.
The legitimacy of his assertions must be verified by the appropriate regulatory agency responsible for licensing such organizations.
Nevertheless, it is essential to clarify that the Nigerian Army does not have any form of alliance or collaborative agreement with the ex-militant or any private security outfit he claims to lead.”
He further noted, “Contrary to his statements, the Nigerian Army has never conducted any operations in conjunction with Asari or his represented organization in any of the regions he mentioned or in any operational theater.”
