Nigerian Army Issues Stern Warning To Okuama Community: No Hiding Place....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Nigerian Army has issued a stern warning to the Okuama community in Delta State, cautioning them to brace themselves for legal consequences following a distressing incident. This admonition comes in the wake of the killing of soldiers who were deployed on a mission aimed at mediating a communal clash between Okuama and Okoloba communities.
In a statement attributed to Major-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the Army expressed profound condemnation for the actions of the community, emphasizing their failure to cooperate in identifying the perpetrators and instead resorting to misinformation.
The statement highlighted the tragic demise of soldiers from the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army, who were committed to restoring peace and safeguarding lives in the Niger Delta Region. These soldiers fell victim to an armed youth faction from the Okuama Community, who callously mutilated their remains.
The Army lamented the community’s attempt to manipulate public opinion through propaganda, portraying it as a collective effort to shield the culprits from accountability. It underscored that such deceitful tactics would not alter the reality of their complicity in the heinous crime and emphasized the inevitability of facing legal repercussions.
While assuring law-abiding citizens of the absence of retaliatory actions from the troops, the Army urged normalcy in daily activities while intensifying efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Toareed Lagbaja, conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and instructed exhaustive measures to ensure the swift arrest of those responsible.
The statement concluded with a resolute commitment from the troops to bring the perpetrators to justice, leaving no room for evasion.
