Nigerian Army Reports Surrender Of 15 Senior Boko Haram Commanders And Their Families In BornoThe Nigerian Army has announced that 15 high-ranking Boko Haram commanders, along with their families, have surrendered to troops in Borno State. According to Naija News, the surrender follows increased military operations targeting the group’s strongholds.

In a press release issued on Friday evening, the army detailed their recent achievements, including dismantling terrorist hideouts and apprehending individuals suspected of providing logistical support to Boko Haram in the northeast. These operations also led to the seizure of firearms and essential supplies.

The statement revealed that the army recovered large quantities of liquid fertilizer and insecticides from the suspects, materials often repurposed by terrorists to manufacture Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). It read: “In a significant blow to the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists, a total of 15 wearied fighters, along with their families, have surrendered to Nigerian Army troops in the Gwoza and Bama Local Government areas of Borno State. Troops also arrested two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers at Azir village in Damboa Local Government Area.”

The military also reported the recovery of fertilizers and insecticides from the suspects, noting their use in IED production. In another operation, troops captured a Boko Haram logistics supplier transporting drugs to terrorist hideouts in Mainahari village.

In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops responded to the kidnapping of a BUA Company driver at Maraban Kyaware, Tsafe Local Government Area. The military successfully engaged the terrorists in a shootout, rescuing the hostage and recovering an AK-47 rifle. In Kebbi State, troops rescued eight hostages after a firefight with kidnappers.

Additionally, acting on intelligence in Benue State, troops arrested a wanted criminal at Gban Market in Guma Local Government Area, seizing three rounds of ammunition, four ATM cards, and ₦6,750 in cash.
