The Nigerian Army has revealed the specifics of the burial ceremony for the officers and soldiers who recently lost their lives in an ambush in Delta State.

As per an Army statement released on Tuesday, the funeral for these brave individuals, who perished while on active duty, is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the National Cemetery in Abuja, commencing at 3 pm.

Naija News recalls the tragic incident where Army personnel were killed in Okuama Community, Delta State, on March 14, 2024.

Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army spokesperson, announced the burial plans, mentioning that President Bola Tinubu will be present as the Special Guest of Honour at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, amidst ongoing operations in Okuoma, Ughelli Local Government Area, Nigerian Military search and rescue teams have made a distressing discovery of decomposing hearts belonging to some soldiers who fell victim to recent attacks.

This grim revelation occurred during clearance operations aimed at apprehending those responsible for the loss of 18 army personnel.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed this chilling detail on Friday, shedding light on the severe nature of the conflict and the sacrifices endured by the Nigerian Army in their relentless pursuit to restore peace and order in the region.

The military’s efforts in Okuoma community have escalated following the fatal assault on its forces, with troops intensively scouring the area in pursuit of justice against the perpetrators.
