The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reported that Nigerian troops, engaged in various operations, have successfully eliminated numerous terrorists and bandits across the North East, North Central, and North West regions. CONTINUE READING

During a press briefing in Abuja, Maj Gen Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, highlighted the operational successes achieved in the past two weeks through a series of land and air operations.

In the North East, Operation Hadin Kai’s troops neutralized terrorists and apprehended high-profile terrorist collaborators in Mafa, Kukawa, and Konduga local government areas of Borno. In addition, some active terrorists and fighters surrendered, stating that they had lost interest in the terrorist ideology due to the relentless assaults against them. Air reconnaissance and bombings of terrorists’ hideouts in Hyawa, Borno, also resulted in many terrorists being neutralized and their structures destroyed. The operations yielded the recovery of various weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, and cash, as well as the rescue of kidnapped civilians.

Moving to the North Central, Operation Safe Haven conducted raids on criminal hideouts in Mangu and Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau State, leading to the recovery of weapons. Meanwhile, Operation Whirl Stroke successfully raided kidnappers’ hideouts in Obi Local Government of Nasarawa State and Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba, rescuing kidnapped victims and neutralizing nine bandits while arresting ten suspects.

In the North West, Operation Hadarin Daji carried out five separate operations targeting bandit hideouts in Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara states. The troops’ actions resulted in the deaths of several terrorists and the arrest of six Nigeriens and other suspects.

The achievements of the Nigerian troops signify significant progress in countering terrorism and banditry in various regions of the country. These operations reflect the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s continued commitment to safeguarding the nation and combating security challenges on multiple fronts.
