Nigerian Woman Sparks Debate After Declaring She Will Stay With Husband Even If He Takes Another Wife

A Nigerian woman, Ibe Peace Chidinma, has sparked conversations on social media after declaring that she would remain married to her husband even if he decides to take another wife.

Peace made the statement in a Facebook post on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, explaining that her husband’s decision to marry another woman would not necessarily bring their marriage to an end.

According to Bush Radio Academy, she maintained that her husband’s commitment to their children was her biggest priority, adding that his role as a father mattered more to her than the possibility of him marrying another woman.

“If my husband wakes up tomorrow and says he wants to take another wife, the truth is that I won’t stop him. I can’t even do that, and that won’t be the end of our marriage,” she wrote.

Peace further declared that she intended to remain with her husband for the rest of her life, stressing that his dedication to their children was the most important consideration in her decision.

“I go dey for him till forever. He puts his children first, and that’s the most important thing to me,” she added.

However, she suggested that if her husband eventually married another woman, they would not live together under the same roof, citing the potential disagreements that could arise when multiple wives share a household.

According to Peace, conflicts between co-wives could be difficult to avoid, regardless of how well they initially relate with one another.

“We the wives, if there will be any, won’t live together because of matters that might arise,” she stated.

She added that disagreements were likely to occur whenever two or more women lived together, insisting that appearances could sometimes conceal underlying tensions.

Her comments have sparked discussions about marriage, polygamy, family stability and the compromises some spouses may be willing to make to preserve their relationships.

While Peace maintained that her husband’s commitment to their children was central to her position, her remarks have also drawn attention to differing opinions about whether taking another wife should affect an existing marriage.
