Nigerian music star Davido has sparked reactions on social media after reportedly liking a viral video in which controversial social media critic VeryDarkMan criticised him and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over recent political developments.

The controversy followed Governor Adeleke’s attendance at an All Progressives Congress (APC) event in Abuja, where he reportedly pledged support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and agreed to lead the president’s campaign in Osun State.

In the video, VeryDarkMan questioned the Adeleke family’s political stance, accusing them of inconsistency following the governor’s public support for Tinubu and the APC.

The online critic referenced Davido’s previous posts criticising the ruling party, arguing that the singer’s earlier political statements appeared to contradict his uncle’s current position.

VeryDarkMan also questioned Davido’s involvement in political matters, alleging that the singer showed interest in Osun State politics mainly during election periods rather than consistently addressing the concerns of residents under his uncle’s administration.

“You are a user. You are someone who uses your fans and your popularity to your advantage. I don’t want to see you put your mouth in election matters again,” VeryDarkMan said in the video.

The situation attracted further attention after Davido reportedly liked the video containing the criticism, prompting speculation among social media users about the singer’s response to the allegations.

However, the singer has not publicly explained why he liked the video or issued a direct response to VeryDarkMan’s comments.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the development has fuelled discussions about Davido’s political views, his relationship with Governor Adeleke and the implications of the governor’s reported support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
