Speaking at the 4th edition of the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing on Thursday at the National Press Centre in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, highlighted improvements such as a decline in food prices, stabilization of exchange rates, and a gradual reduction in petroleum product costs.
Idris emphasized that these developments have eased some of the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. He also praised citizens for their patience and resilience during this period of economic transition, acknowledging that while the reforms initially brought challenges, they were crucial for long-term national prosperity.
“As we continue implementing these vital reforms, we are already witnessing tangible progress. Food prices are decreasing, exchange rates are stabilizing, and fuel costs are gradually going down,” he stated.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering economic stability and development, adding, “We have crossed the Rubicon, and the pains are gradually subsiding as the benefits of these policies take effect. I deeply appreciate Nigerians for their patience, perseverance, and trust in the President’s vision. Meaningful reforms require sacrifice but ultimately lead to a more stable and prosperous future.”
Idris also urged religious leaders to use the ongoing Ramadan and Lent periods to pray for Nigeria’s peace, security, and progress.
“With unity, faith, and collective effort, we will emerge stronger, more resilient, and better positioned for lasting prosperity,” he added.
He recalled his remarks at the recent Annual Ramadan Lecture organized by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), and the Voice of Nigeria (VON) in Kaduna, where he stressed the deep connection between faith, politics, and governance.
