He made this declaration on Saturday during an inspection tour of the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.

Wike emphasized that he would not bow to intimidation or blackmail while executing his responsibilities, asserting that he is committed to restoring the Golf Club to its former glory. He firmly stated that no individual or group would be permitted to seize control of a facility that belongs to the Federal Government.

The club had recently been shut down indefinitely due to disputes over structural reforms.

Speaking to the situation, Wike stated:

“We will not allow anyone to take over what belongs to the Federal Government. No amount of blackmail will derail me. If anyone attempts to sabotage me, I will take action.”

He explained that the government is not naturally suited to manage such establishments directly, which is why an interim management committee was appointed.

“You were appointed to manage the club, not to claim ownership of it,” he said.

The Minister also promised to renovate the clubhouse but insisted that the club must settle its outstanding ground rent, warning that failure to comply would lead to its closure.
