Upah argued that such intervention would be an infringement on the internal affairs of trade unions and a breach of Labour Law and International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions. He stated, “The federal government should halt the purported hybrid war against Congress. If a two-year term is deemed appropriate, it should apply universally, including to the President and principal public officers.”

He also urged the government to refrain from interfering in the Labour Party’s activities and to avoid efforts that destabilize opposition parties. Additionally, Upah demanded an apology from the police for their recent raid on the NLC headquarters. He warned that failure to address the issue could lead to industrial action or other responses from the Congress. Upah criticized the police’s rationale for the raid, calling their explanations inconsistent and unconvincing.
