The meeting was convened after heavily armed policemen and individuals in plain clothes raided the NLC headquarters in Abuja shortly before 9 PM. The officers ransacked the second and tenth floors of the building, seizing various materials, including books from the offices and a bookshop. They claimed these materials were used to incite and organize recent protests.

According to Vanguard, the NEC meeting is set for 4 PM tomorrow and will be conducted virtually. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the invasion and decide on the appropriate response.

The Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN) has also condemned the invasion. In a statement signed by Chairman Toba Agboola and Secretary Adenike Ajiboye, LAWAN criticized the action of the law enforcement agents as a serious violation of fundamental human rights under the 1999 Constitution.

LAWAN described the invasion as “unfair, unjust, and unacceptable,” calling for an end to such actions. They urged all Nigerians to unite in condemning the violation and upholding democratic values. LAWAN emphasized that intimidation and harassment are not acceptable means for achieving any objectives and that the government must maintain democratic principles in all its actions.
