The governor, however, reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, citing what he described as the President’s commitment and support to Ebonyi State.

In a statement issued on Saturday through his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, Nwifuru said he had not endorsed any aspirant for elective offices in the state apart from President Tinubu.

“I have not made up my mind to support anybody except President Bola Tinubu, who has shown love and support to our state,” he said.

He also urged political aspirants to avoid actions or comments capable of heating up the political atmosphere, calling for calm, humility and responsible conduct. According to him, political success ultimately depends on divine will.

“You can only attain office when God permits it. Let us remain calm and humble,” he said.

Nwifuru further disclosed plans to begin consultations with critical stakeholders across the state through a series of zonal meetings aimed at ensuring a credible and peaceful electoral process. He said the discussions would cover positions in the Senate, House of Representatives, State House of Assembly and the governorship.

The governor, however, maintained that support for Tinubu’s re-election was non-negotiable in Ebonyi, declaring that the presidency was a “no-go area” for debate.

“We will not discuss the president’s position because that one is settled. We have only one presidential candidate, and that is President Bola Tinubu,” he stated.

Highlighting federal projects in the state, Nwifuru said Tinubu had shown a strong commitment to Ebonyi’s development, adding that the state would fully support his re-election bid.
