No NERD Certificate, No NYSC! — National Youth Service Corps Unveils Tough New Mobilization Rule
The National Youth Service Corps has announced that graduates must now present a compliance certificate from the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) before they can participate in national service mobilisation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Director-General of the NYSC, Olakunle Nafiu, disclosed this during the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Mobilisation Workshop held in Abuja. The workshop was organised to strengthen accountability and ensure proper compliance in the mobilisation process.
According to Nafiu, the new requirement is aimed at tackling certificate fraud and improving the integrity of the mobilisation system.
He explained that the scheme would continue to enforce the Federal Government’s directive mandating all prospective corps members to obtain the NERD compliance certificate before mobilisation.
The NYSC boss also urged Corps Producing Institutions nationwide to sensitise students on the new policy and guide them through the process to avoid difficulties.
Nafiu stressed that ensuring a transparent mobilisation system should not be the responsibility of the NYSC alone. He called on regulatory agencies, security organisations and relevant ministries to collaborate with the scheme through effective policies, training and strict enforcement.
He noted that stronger cooperation among stakeholders would help create a smoother transition from tertiary institutions to national service while sustaining confidence in the mobilisation process.
The Director-General further stated that all institutions involved in mobilisation must work together to build a system that is transparent, accountable and efficient.
