No Shake-Up!’ — Uba Sani Dismisses APC Governors’ Feud, Backs Uzodimma As Chairman

Sani made the clarification on Monday while appearing on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

Reports had surfaced last week claiming that Hope Uzodimma was removed as chairman of the forum and replaced by Peter Mbah following a reportedly tense meeting in Abuja. The reports also alleged that the forum had become divided into opposing factions.

Although Uzodimma insisted he was still the chairman, another group within the forum was said to be aligned with Dapo Abiodun and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

However, governors loyal to Uzodimma later reaffirmed their support for him during a meeting held at the Imo State Lodge in Abuja. There were also reports that Bola Tinubu stepped in to calm tensions within the forum.

Addressing the controversy, Sani, who serves as vice chairman of the forum, maintained that there had been no change in leadership.

“At the moment, there’s no problem. All the governors are united. His Excellency Hope Uzodimma remains the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum,” he said.

He also reaffirmed his own position as vice chairman of the forum.

The Kaduna governor stressed that disagreements are a normal part of democratic politics and should not be exaggerated. According to him, the situation was not as serious as it had been portrayed publicly.

“In my view, it was not a major issue. In a democracy, people may agree or disagree on certain matters, and that is perfectly normal. What happened was simply a minor misunderstanding,” he stated.

Sani further assured supporters of the party that the matter had already been resolved and dismissed claims of a lingering division within the forum.

“I don’t think you will hear anything further about it. It was only a slight disagreement and not a serious crisis. The issue has been settled,” he said.

He added that if there had truly been a leadership change, he would naturally have stepped in as chairman in his capacity as deputy chairman of the forum.

“But I was present, and I made it clear that we remain united and everything is in order,” Sani added.
