The upper legislative chamber has now mandated the physical presence of MDA heads at MTF/FSP sessions.

Furthermore, they have called upon President Bola Tinubu to remove any government officials who demonstrate a lack of seriousness in their roles.

During the formal commencement of the interactive session, jointly organized by the Senate’s committees on Finance, Appropriations, National Planning, and Local and Foreign Debts, Senate President Godswill Akpabio reiterated the importance of attendance by MDA heads.

He stated, “If you do not plan for success, you are essentially planning for failure. Therefore, I want to remind our committee that any committed appointee or head of any agency who is dedicated to the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration must be present here.”

Akpabio added, “The chairman of the lead committee (Finance) should provide me with the list of all the Heads of Agencies that you invited but have failed to attend this session.

This failure to attend marks the beginning of their failures in their respective offices. Any head of an agency who sends a representative here is not demonstrating a serious commitment, and as such, the President should reconsider their appointment.”

He stressed that his statement was not a threat but a reflection of the reality. Akpabio even rearranged his own schedule to attend the session, underlining the importance of strategic planning for the government’s success.
