Speaking in Lagos on Thursday during the presentation of the book ‘Tribulations and Trophies: Bola Ajibola… in His Own Words!’—an autobiography of the former AGF and ex-judge at the International Court of Justice, Bola Ajibola—Fagbemi emphasized the importance of respecting the judicial process.

He cautioned against interpreting legal matters through partisan or emotional lenses, urging Nigerians to rely on the law rather than political sentiments.

“When issues like this arise, people should take the time to understand what the law actually says,” he stated. “This isn’t about emotions or sentiment—it’s about the facts and the legal framework.”

Fagbemi noted that although he is a member of the current administration, he has consciously refrained from taking a public stance on the Rivers crisis.

“This matter is already before the court, and I believe we must respect the judicial process and allow the judiciary to decide without interference,” he added. “Unnecessary commentary only clouds the legal process. Once a matter is under judicial review, it’s best to wait for the court’s verdict.”
