Iyabo Ojo, who led the protest, informed lawmakers at the assembly complex on Wednesday that their group had gathered to seek justice for Mohbad, whose sudden demise occurred on September 12th. His death raised questions, prompting calls for a thorough investigation and inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his passing.
During the protest, participants displayed various placards bearing messages like ‘Justice for Mohbad,’ ‘Who killed Mohbad?,’ ‘No more Marlian,’ and ‘Too young to go at 27,’ among others.
Iyabo Ojo emphasized that Nigerians were actively demanding justice for the beloved singer, who passed away under mysterious circumstances. She acknowledged that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police had initiated an investigation into the matter but underscored the importance of achieving justice.
In response to the protesters, the Deputy Majority Leader, Mr. Adedamola Kasunmu, expressed gratitude for their peaceful conduct during the visit to the House of Assembly. He assured them that their plea for justice would be presented and addressed within the legislative process.
Kasunmu further revealed that the House had already discussed the issue of Mohbad’s demise during a recent plenary session, and they were committed to allowing the law to take its course in pursuit of justice.
