NPC Unveils Ambitious Demographic And Health Survey In Niger For 2023/2024

The primary objective of the survey is to collect high-quality data across a wide range of crucial indicators, with the intention of guiding evidence-based planning and resource allocation. Usman highlighted key areas of focus, which include fertility rate, maternal and child health, contraceptive usage, childhood mortality, gender-related concerns, nutrition, HIV/AIDS awareness, and more.

The gathered data will play a pivotal role in addressing the needs of maternal and child health, as well as family planning, facilitating informed decision-making. The initiative is crafted to enhance the capabilities of data collection, analysis, and utilization, aiming to promote national ownership of the entire process.

Usman emphasized that the collected data will be essential in identifying demographic and health-related fundamental social needs. Furthermore, it will aid in devising strategies for equitable growth, tackling social poverty, and aligning with national development goals.

The commissioner underscored the collaborative nature of the program, involving various ministries such as the Federal Ministry of Health, National Bureau of Statistics, and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs. Additionally, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is contributing both financial and technical support to ensure the successful execution of the survey.
