The NRC has ambitious plans to reintroduce both passenger and freight trains on routes such as Port-Harcourt to Aba, Lagos to Kano, and Kaduna, particularly due to the presence of dry ports in these areas. The corporation aims to enhance train frequency by increasing trips to six on major routes, including Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, and Abuja-Kaduna.
