The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Katsina State has apprehended two individuals for their involvement in the theft and vandalism of electricity wires at Kusa Junction along Jibia Road.
Identified as Ibrahim Rabiu, 27, and Wada Tanimu, 25, hailing from Daddara village in Jibia Local Government Area, the suspects were publicly presented at the NSCDC Command headquarters in Katsina on Tuesday. The NSCDC’s Special Anti-Vandal Unit recovered twenty-five pieces of aluminium conductors as evidence from the culprits.
DSC Buhari Hamisu, the NSCDC spokesperson in Katsina, disclosed that the arrest followed credible intelligence gathered by the Special Anti-Vandal Unit attached to Sabon Gida Division. During interrogation, both Rabiu and Tanimu confessed to the theft of aluminium wires at Kusa junction on March 19, 2024, approximately at 11 pm.
Further investigations uncovered their involvement in previous incidents of vandalism, including the theft of aluminium wire belonging to Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO). These stolen materials were allegedly sold to an individual named Jamilu Hassan, who is currently evading arrest.
The NSCDC remains committed to combating such criminal activities, safeguarding public infrastructure, and ensuring the prosecution of perpetrators to the full extent of the law.
