UNIPORT Student’s Murder: Rivers State Government Steps In To Prosecute....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The prosecution of Damian Okoligwe, a 400-level student in the Department of Petrochemical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a 300-level Biochemistry student at the same institution, has now been assumed by the Rivers State Government.
In 2023, Okoligwe was accused of the crime, prompting the Rivers State Police Command to arraign him. Subsequently, upon advice from the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP), the Office of the Attorney General of Rivers State initiated legal proceedings against Okoligwe in the State High Court.
During the recent court session held on Tuesday, neither Okoligwe nor his legal counsel were present. Presiding over the proceedings, Justice C. A. Nsirim decided to adjourn the case to Tuesday, April 23, 2024. The judge also ordered for Okoligwe to be brought before the court on the specified date to enter his plea.
