NSCIA Calls On Muslims To Engage In Edo State Electoral Activities

The Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has issued advice urging Muslim adherents to actively participate in the upcoming September gubernatorial election in the state. This counsel emerged from a stakeholders meeting convened in Benin City, as reported by BUSHRADIOGIST.

Mallam Abdulazeez Igbinidu, the state chairman of the Council, emphasized the underrepresentation of Muslims in the state’s governance structure. He underscored the necessity for Muslim involvement in politics to alter prevailing narratives and secure a voice in governance. Igbinidu stressed that meaningful participation in political and electoral processes is essential for Muslims to influence the state’s governance trajectory positively.

Encouraging unregistered Muslim voters to seize the opportunity presented by the forthcoming Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter registration exercise, Igbinidu urged them to register promptly to exercise their voting rights in the election.

The NSCIA chairman elucidated that the stakeholders meeting aimed to foster unity among Muslims and strategize for the upcoming gubernatorial election. He emphasized the imperative of equitable representation in Edo State’s governance structure to ensure adequate inclusion of Muslims.

Furthermore, Igbinidu affirmed the Council’s non-partisan stance, stating its commitment to engage with all political stakeholders, including candidates from diverse parties, for the collective welfare of Muslims and all residents of the state.
