The reports suggested that starting with members of the 2025 Batch A, Stream 1, the service year would be extended by an additional three months due to a recent policy review. It also mentioned that updated call-up numbers/letters and new orientation dates would be communicated.

However, the NYSC responded on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, labeling the report as fake news.

In other news, the Minister of Youth, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has urged the NYSC management to consider revising its program to allow corps members more rest during their 21-day orientation camp. Olawande made this request during the 2025 annual management conference, titled ‘Transforming the NYSC Scheme to Address the Needs of Modern Nigerian Graduates and Society,’ held in Abuja on Monday.

He proposed that camp drills be delayed to begin at 7:00 am, instead of the current 4:00 am start, to improve engagement and activity levels for prospective corps members. The minister has already initiated discussions to implement this change, emphasizing his dedication to improving the well-being of Nigerian youth.
