It was reported that Gbemisola Olowolafe passed away on March 11 at the age of 63.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima first paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, following the tragic loss of their eldest daughter, Abisola Kola-Daisi, who recently passed away in the United Kingdom at the age of 42.
During the visit, prayers were offered for the repose of her soul, and the Vice President encouraged the grieving family to find comfort in the cherished memories they hold of their beloved daughter.
Afterwards, Shettima proceeded to join relatives and friends of Dr. Tunji Olowolafe at the memorial event for Mrs. Gbemisola Olowolafe.
In a separate development, reports have emerged that stakeholders from the North-Central zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are calling on President Bola Tinubu to replace Vice President Shettima with a candidate from their region ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Punch, the North-Central bloc has begun high-level consultations with political heavyweights and former public officials to push their demand for the vice presidency.
Nghargbu K’tso, Chairman of the North-Central Renaissance Movement and leader of the delegation, confirmed this in a statement shared with the publication.
It was gathered that a strategic meeting was held behind closed doors with key figures, including former National Security Adviser Gen. Aliyu Gusau (retd), the Onah of Abaji, His Royal Highness Musa Yunusa, former Senator John Danboyi, among others, to advance their agenda.
The statement read:
“The North-Central region is intensifying its push for the presidency to return to the zone in 2027 through widespread consultations with prominent leaders within the geopolitical zone and across the country. We urge Nigerians to support this cause and recognize the region’s readiness to lead, having long contributed to national leadership without being fully represented in top executive roles.”
