Obasanjo made these remarks on Monday during the inauguration of new substations at the Geometric Power Plant in Ogbor Hill, Aba, Abia State. He highlighted that Nigeria’s potential for greatness is self-evident, stressing that the nation can achieve remarkable progress when its people are trusted and empowered.

The former president shared that his decision to grant a licence to Prof. Barth Nnaji to operate the power company stemmed from his belief in the abilities of Nigerians. He commended the progress made by Geometric Power, noting that the success of such a complex project proves that Nigerians can excel when given the opportunity.

“When I offered my encouragement, two people approached me, questioning why I was trusting Nigerians with such responsibility, fearing they would disappoint me. But you have not disappointed me, and you haven’t disappointed anyone who supported this project,” Obasanjo said.

He further emphasized that the success of Geometric Power serves as a powerful lesson in self-belief and self-reliance, urging Nigerians to recognize their own potential for development. Obasanjo also encouraged Nnaji to expand Geometric Power’s distribution services to other areas of the state, contributing to further development and industrialization.
