Obasanjo Slams Nigerian: How Can You Come To Office Without A Plan

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Nigerians to focus on the country’s leadership selection process.

Obasanjo emphasized that Nigeria needs a leader capable of steering the nation’s economy towards prosperity for all, not just for their families and allies.

In an interview with News Central, the former president attributed the country’s struggles to prosperity to ineffective leadership. He advised Nigerians to carefully consider leadership, as not everyone possesses the qualities required to be an effective leader.

“Instead of managing the nation’s economy for the benefit of all, they manage it for themselves and their families,” Obasanjo said.

He went on to explain, “Leadership cannot be forced, and not everyone is suited for it. When we identify capable leaders, we should recognize their value and leverage their abilities for the greater good. Whether in government, diplomacy, or religious institutions, good leadership should be utilized to its fullest potential.”

Obasanjo added, “We may take two steps forward, one sideways, and even two or three steps backward, but that will still move us forward. Leadership is something we must focus on. What would you say about a Nigerian president who came to office without a plan?”
