Political Storm: PDP Expels South-East National Vice Chairman In Bold Move

The suspended National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the South-East, Ali Odefa, has been officially expelled by his Oguduokwor Ward in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

It is important to note that Odefa was initially suspended by the ward’s party executives on September 11, 2024, due to his alleged involvement in activities considered harmful to the party’s interests.

On November 29, 2024, the Federal High Court in Abakaliki upheld the suspension in its ruling regarding case No: FHC/AI/CS/182/2024.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Onyeka Herbert Ovuta, the Acting Chairman of the PDP Oguduokwor Ward, announced Odefa’s expulsion. He explained that the decision followed the findings and recommendations of the ward’s disciplinary committee, which confirmed Odefa’s involvement in actions contrary to the party’s values.

“The expulsion of Chief Ali Odefa is in line with the report, findings, and recommendations of the party’s Ward Disciplinary Committee, as outlined in the party constitution,” Ovuta said.

Odefa has now been officially removed from the party, with the ward’s statement confirming, “Chief Ali Odefa, the suspended National Vice Chairman of the PDP, South East Zone, is expelled from the party with immediate effect.”

The statement further emphasized that Odefa had been suspended earlier on September 11, 2024, and following the Federal High Court’s confirmation of the suspension, the Disciplinary Committee recommended his expulsion from the party.
