Obaseki and PDP Accused of Voter Card Manipulation Ahead of Edo Elections: APC Calls for Citizen ActionThe APC New Media Directorate has raised serious allegations against Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over what it describes as a coordinated attempt to manipulate the forthcoming elections in Edo State through the unlawful collection of voters’ cards. The Directorate warns that this tactic poses a significant threat to democracy and the future of the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The allegations stem from a recently surfaced video from Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area (LGA), which allegedly shows a collaboration between INEC officials and PDP operatives in a scheme to collect voters’ cards. In the video, a concerned citizen exposes how these cards are being gathered en masse, reportedly to rig the election in favor of the PDP. The APC New Media Directorate has labeled this as a calculated and widespread effort to suppress voter turnout and undermine the electoral process.

According to the Directorate, this issue is not confined to a single location. Reports indicate that similar incidents have occurred across Edo State, particularly in Unit 6 (Edokha Primary School, Ukhomedokha) and Ward 10 (Okpekpe), where APC members who recently registered for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have discovered their cards missing. The APC argues that this pattern of voter suppression is aimed at disenfranchising those who oppose the current administration.

The APC New Media Directorate has questioned the motives behind these actions, suggesting that the PDP, under Governor Obaseki’s leadership, is desperate to cling to power by any means necessary. “If the PDP truly believed they had the support of the people, there would be no need for such desperate tactics,” the Directorate stated. “This is a clear indication that they have lost the trust and confidence of Edo citizens.”

The APC has called on all Edo citizens to remain vigilant and defend their democratic rights. The Directorate is urging the public to demand accountability from INEC and to ensure that every citizen can exercise their right to vote freely and fairly. “Edo State is not for sale,” the statement declared, adding that the people must stand united against any attempts to manipulate the electoral process.

The APC also issued a stern warning to Governor Obaseki and the PDP, stating that any attempt to impose Asue Ighodalo, whom they describe as a “stranger” to the struggles of Edo people, as the next governor will be fiercely resisted. “Edo deserves a leader who understands and empathizes with the people’s challenges, not someone handpicked by a failed administration,” the Directorate emphasized.

The APC New Media Directorate has vowed to continue monitoring the situation closely and to hold those responsible for any electoral malpractice accountable.
