Oborevwori Reveals Why 2027 Opposition Is Impossible

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has made it clear that he cannot oppose President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, citing the President’s unwavering support for his administration.

Oborevwori made the remarks on Monday during an official reception held in Asaba, following his recent defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that Oborevwori, along with his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa, recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effectively ending the PDP’s nearly 26-year dominance in the oil-rich state.

Addressing attendees, Oborevwori explained that his decision to join the APC was driven by a commitment to back Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

“Mr President has stood by us and shown us immense love. It would be wrong to oppose him in 2027. To properly reciprocate the support he has extended to Delta State, we must align fully with him — and that cannot be done from outside; we must be inside to do it effectively,” the governor said.

He also assured APC governors present at the event that political leaders at all levels across Delta State — from state to ward — had agreed to join the APC.

The governor emphasized that what is happening in Delta State is more than just a political defection — it is a collective movement.

“This is a movement, not merely a defection. We have resolved to move together, and when we do, we are better positioned to claim our share of national opportunities,” Oborevwori declared.
