Regarding the partial demolition carried out by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, the governor clarified that it was conducted in accordance with the state’s laws.

He dismissed assertions circulating in some quarters that the exercise was politically driven, asserting that government officials took necessary actions when they identified violations during the construction of the building.

Governor Abiodun stressed that in Ogun State, as well as in Nigeria as a whole, no one is exempt from the law. He underscored that the laws that govern ordinary citizens are equally applicable to VIPs.

He remarked, “While you’ve caught me off guard on this subject matter, I wasn’t initially prepared to formally address it. The reasons are straightforward – we are a responsible government, accountable to our citizens, and committed to upholding the rule of law.

Since assuming office in 2019, I have consistently championed equity, fairness, and the rule of law. I have never displayed any inclination towards vindictiveness or appeared to engage in witch-hunting.”

Governor Abiodun also emphasized the significance of adhering to building codes and regulations, stating that failing to do so would result in a disorderly society.
