In another context, Governor Abiodun commented on the fuel subsidy removal revealing that Nigeria had been losing N4 trillion annually to the subsidy.
He supported the President’s decision to remove the subsidy, as it would help revamp Nigeria’s economy and redirect funds towards more impactful uses.
Additionally, the governor shared that his administration had rolled out palliative measures to cushion the impact of the subsidy removal on civil servants, pensioners, and the people of the state, including a cash payment of N10,000 to each public servant and pensioner.
These measures were implemented in collaboration with labor unions to address the challenges posed by the subsidy removal.
