Ogun Tension: One Dead As Police Clash With Notorious Armed Robbers

In a statement on Sunday, the Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the criminals were active near Western University, close to multiple bridges along the expressway.

According to Odutola, the Divisional Police Officer of Odogbolu received an urgent report that robbers had barricaded the highway. Acting swiftly, he mobilized his patrol team alongside reinforcements from Obalende and Amotekun units, who promptly responded to the situation.

“During the operation, one of the robbers was fatally shot, while others fled into the nearby bush with gunshot wounds. A firearm was recovered from the scene, and the body of the neutralized suspect has been deposited at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital Morgue,” Odutola stated.

She added that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, and further updates will be provided as investigations progress.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered intensified patrols and surveillance along the highway to ensure the safety of commuters.
