Okpebholo Appoints 26-Member Edo Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of 26 officials to serve on the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the appointments were announced in a Government Special Announcement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.

The state government said the newly constituted board would be formally inaugurated by Governor Okpebholo on a date that would be communicated later.

Alhaji Musa Uduimo was appointed as chairman, while Abdulkabir M. Eranga will serve as secretary.

Other members of the board include Alhaji Abdul Aziz Igbinidu, Hajia Usenat Audu Esohe, Alhaji Musa Isiwele, Hajiya Rabi Abiri, Ahmed Evbareke, Mallam Naasir Usman, Sheikh Sirajudeen Muhammed and Mallam Omosa Shittu Musa.

Also appointed are Sheikh Abdul-Ali Abdulqadir Momoh, Mallam Ismail Ibrahim, Alhaji Muhammed Otokiti, Alhaji Buhari Aideghese, Mallam Abdullahi Aminu, Hajia Zuliatu Bello Osagie, Adams Inusa Oshiokhamhele and Sanni Muhammad.

The list further includes Mulikat Iyoha Oare, Mallam Uthman Abu, Mallam Hassan Mahadi, Alhaji Prince Isah Momodu, Mallam Mukhtar Abdulkadir, Prince Afe Aliru Momoh, Abdul Rahman Momodu JP and Arc. Mamud Oyarelemi.

The establishment of the board is expected to strengthen the state’s coordination and administration of matters relating to Muslim pilgrimage activities.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has reportedly dismissed more than 40 personnel over allegations of corruption and financial misconduct within the last two and a half years.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede disclosed the development in Abuja while addressing media executives and journalists.

According to Olukoyede, more than five of the dismissed officers are currently facing prosecution, while case files involving other personnel are being prepared for possible legal action.

He said the measures formed part of the commission’s efforts to maintain discipline and accountability within its ranks.
