Okuama residents in Delta State are urgently seeking assistance from both federal and state authorities after being forced to flee to nearby forests in the wake of a tragic event – the killing of 17 military personnel within their community.
According to a spokesperson for the displaced residents, who addressed reporters, they are appealing to the Federal and State Government for immediate provision of essential supplies such as healthcare, food, and other necessities. The spokesperson highlighted the dire conditions faced by the men, women, and children who have sought refuge in the forest, emphasizing their lack of access to basic amenities including water, food, shelter, and medical attention.
Furthermore, the spokesperson lamented that some of the displaced individuals have already fallen ill, with reports of snake bites adding to their suffering as they navigate their temporary shelter in the forest.
The situation remains critical as the displaced community awaits assistance from government agencies to alleviate their plight.
