Olatunji Bello Named CEO Of FCCPC By Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the appointment of Mr. Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), subject to confirmation by the Senate. Mr. Bello, a lawyer, administrator, and distinguished journalist, previously served as the Secretary to the Lagos State Government and holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. He obtained his Law degree from the same institution and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.

The statement highlights Mr. Bello’s extensive career in journalism, beginning at Concord Newspapers in 1985. He held key roles including Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord. He was a recipient of the US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship and later appointed Chairman of the Editorial Board at THISDAY Newspapers in 2001.

Mr. Bello also contributed significantly to governance, serving as Commissioner for Environment in Lagos State under various administrations.

In concluding the statement, it is emphasized that President Tinubu expects the new CEO to effectively uphold the FCCPC’s mandate of safeguarding Nigerian consumers’ interests, ensuring the safety and quality of goods and services.
