As the officer descended the staircase to leave, workers stood outside chanting “Isa, ole!” (“thief” in Yoruba). Many held placards, while others raised their fists, shouting in unison. This unusual send-off echoed through the area, reflecting tensions between the customs service and port workers over the years.
