This call was made in a 16-point communiqué issued following their third national conference, themed “Strategic Solutions for Good Governance, Food Security, and Sustainable Growth in Nigeria,” held in Abuja earlier this week.

The former deputy governors emphasized that funds from external borrowings by both the Federal Government and sub-national governments should be effectively utilized for productive activities and public infrastructure that enhance citizens’ quality of life. They urged the enactment of laws at both federal and state levels to ensure that governments complete ongoing projects before starting new ones.

Additionally, they proposed amendments to the Public Procurement Act to enforce stricter penalties for contract defaulters.

While addressing the nation’s current challenges, the FFDCN commended the Federal Government’s efforts to tackle food insecurity and praised its ongoing initiatives against insecurity. They called for continued support for the military and security agencies to ensure the safety of citizens and enhance national food production.

In his closing remarks, conference convener Chris Akomas praised the participants and resource persons for their insightful contributions, which he believes will lead to significant positive change in the country.
