Ologbondiyan’s remarks came amid recent defections within the party, where he suggested that those leaving for other political entities show more honor than those who stay and collaborate with rival factions. He specifically pointed to Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, noting Wike’s dual leadership roles in both APC and PDP in Rivers State as a significant factor contributing to the party’s internal strife.

He criticized the deviation from PDP’s constitutional hierarchy in Rivers, asserting that Governor Siminalaya Fubara should rightfully lead the party instead of Wike. Ologbondiyan underscored the discord between Governor Fubara and the state party structure, emphasizing the need for PDP’s internal workings to align better with the interests of the populace.

Regarding defections by Rivers State House of Assembly members, Ologbondiyan asserted their inability to retain seats if they switch parties without following proper legislative procedures. He emphasized the importance of procedural adherence and transparency in maintaining legislative integrity.
