The Olubadan praised the IGP’s commitment to community policing and acknowledged his efforts to bolster the approach through technological advancements and the welfare of police personnel.

In the presence of four members of the Olubadan Advisory Council, including prominent figures like the Balogun of Ibadanland, Ashipa Balogun, Ekerin Olubadan, and Ekerin Balogun, the monarch’s viewpoint was conveyed by ‘Baba Kekere,’ Senator Kola Balogun.

The Olubadan commended the IGP’s dedication to the community policing strategy and highlighted his determination to enhance the force’s capabilities through training and technological deployment.

The Olubadan affirmed that the IGP, with his history of overcoming challenges within the police force, is a suitable choice for the role.

He acknowledged the IGP’s resilience, noting that his path to the position has been marked by perseverance and divine favor.

The monarch expressed confidence that this same resilience will continue to guide the IGP in successfully fulfilling his responsibilities.

Furthermore, the Olubadan disclosed his appreciation for the approach taken by the new police command leader in Oyo State, Compol Adebola Hamzat, whose commitment to the principles of community policing has been evident since taking office.

In response, IGP Egbetokun expressed gratitude for the support his team has received from the Olubadan and the Oyo State Command.

He recognized the significance of community policing and called on traditional institutions, like the Olubadan’s, to play an active role in its implementation.

He acknowledged that the traditional institution serves as a key authority closest to the people and therefore has an essential role in fostering community involvement in security matters.

The Olubadan’s stance aligns with the growing acknowledgment of community policing as a vital approach to addressing Nigeria’s multifaceted security challenges, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and local communities.
