Speaking on Tuesday at the 2024 National TB Conference in Abuja, themed “Public-Private Partnership and Integrated Service Delivery: Panacea to End TB in Nigeria,” Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the alarming rate of TB infections in the country, as evidenced by the number of reported cases in 2023.

She praised the contributions of various partners in the fight against TB but emphasized the need for greater intensity in combating the disease.

“Nigeria remains the country with the highest TB burden in Africa and ranks sixth globally. According to the 2024 WHO Global Tuberculosis Report, Nigeria recorded approximately 467,000 TB cases in 2023, underscoring the urgency of our collective fight against this disease,” she said.

The First Lady acknowledged significant progress in TB diagnosis and treatment, attributing these advancements to the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, civil society organizations, and international partners such as USAID and the Global Fund.

“The solution to ending TB lies in the strength of our partnerships—both public and private—and the integrated delivery of services that leave no one behind,” Mrs. Tinubu stated.

According to Core TV, she reaffirmed her commitment to eradicating TB, stressing the importance of the conference as a platform for sharing knowledge, devising strategies, and renewing dedication to the fight against tuberculosis.
