Nollywood actress Omowunmi Dada has opened up about a past relationship, revealing that she decided to end it after discovering that the man she was dating had begun observing Islamic practices despite initially presenting himself as a Christian.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Dada made the disclosure during an interview with media personality VJ Adams, where she explained that the situation became clear to her after Ramadan began.

The actress said the man told her he was fasting because it would make his mother happy, as she wanted him to embrace Islam. Dada said that revelation became a turning point for her and made her realise that their expectations about marriage and family life were different.

She explained that she hopes to marry a practising Christian and raise her children within the Christian faith. According to her, she wants to share the same religious values with her husband and build a family around a unified faith.

Dada said the man attempted to persuade her to remain in the relationship by offering to attend church with her. However, she maintained that this arrangement would not resolve their differences because he also wanted their future children to be exposed to Islam and visit the mosque.

The actress stressed that her decision was not motivated by hostility towards Muslims, noting that she has Muslim friends whom she described positively. Rather, she said her choice was based on the kind of family structure and religious upbringing she wants for her future children.

Dada said the experience made her realise that she needed a partner who shared her religious convictions and with whom she could raise a family in accordance with those values.
