In a video that emerged, the embattled chairman was seen engaged in a physical altercation with the commissioner during a palliatives distribution event in Arigidi Akoko on Sunday, allegedly causing injuries to her head.

Addressing the incident on Monday, the state chairman of the APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, expressed strong disapproval of the alleged attack on the commissioner and affirmed that the party would address the matter promptly.

“We do not tolerate indiscipline within our party,” Mr. Adetimehin stated. “The chairman involved in this public and embarrassing act will be suspended. I have instructed the local government party chairman to assemble everyone in Akure today (Monday), where we will deliberate on the issue and impose appropriate sanctions as necessary. However, the ward chairman will face suspension.”

Princess Oluwatosin Ajirotutu, a member of the House of Assembly, condemned the alleged assault on the commissioner and called for the intervention of the state police command to arrest and prosecute the APC chieftain.

She asserted, “The video clip that has surfaced causing chaos in the media space and Arigidi in Akoko Northwest of Ondo State is deeply troubling. It follows the directive of the Ondo State Government regarding subsidy palliatives distribution across the state.

Mr. Awolumate Olumide’s actions against Hon. Adebunmi Osadahun are reprehensible, and he should be arrested and subjected to severe disciplinary measures by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police. The Attorney General of Ondo State should also expedite the prosecution of Mr. Olumide.”

She further emphasized, “Assault against women should not be tolerated in any part of Ondo State or the country, given the crucial roles they play in society.”
