The opposition party’s response comes in light of Governor Otti’s administration’s reaction to advice from the Church, which was issued in a communique following its 17th Synod.

The Synod’s advice urged the state government to address the state of economic roads in Aba and to refrain from terminating the employment of civil servants within the State civil service.

The Abia PDP has called on the government led by Alex Otti to issue a public apology to the Synod and the congregation of the Anglican Diocese of Aba. They assert that rather than accepting the Church’s advice in a constructive manner, the Labour Party-led government in the state chose to respond with a display of significant intolerance, introducing unnecessary political discord into the situation.

In their statement, signed by the PDP Vice Chairman and Acting State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Elder Abraham Amah, the party expressed its disappointment in the response of the Alex Otti administration.

They described the Church’s advice as straightforward, honest, and well-intentioned, emphasizing that the governor’s assertions, especially his claim that only one individual influenced the communique, were deeply insulting to the members of the 17th Synod of the Anglican Church of Aba Diocese, the entire Anglican Communion congregation, and indeed the Christian community as a whole.
