Represented by the Concerned Elite of Ondo State, these individuals criticized the resolution, wherein the president instructed unelected individuals to oversee elected officials, deeming it “inconsistent with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
In a statement released following their meeting, the elite also expressed disapproval of the decision requiring the deputy governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to sign a post-dated letter of resignation.
The state House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Olamide Oladiji, had conveyed that Aiyedatiwa was to submit an undated resignation letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of efforts to thwart the impeachment proceedings against him.
Oladiji further specified that the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ade Adetimehin, would oversee compliance with the resolutions made with Tinubu.
In response to these developments, the elite, represented by Dr. Olanrewaju Akeredolu and Chief Adeola Fagbayibo, issued a statement asserting that the speaker had erred in presenting the resolution on the floor of the Assembly.
