Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has disclosed that security operatives foiled an alleged plot by five youths to bomb the Ondo State Government House a few months ago.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Aiyedatiwa made the revelation during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, shortly after a Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced four individuals to death by hanging for their role in the June 5, 2022 attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo.

According to the governor, the suspects were discovered in a hotel where they had allegedly gathered materials and equipment suspected to be for bomb fabrication.

He explained that security agencies acted on intelligence reports and swiftly moved in to disrupt the operation before it could be executed.

Aiyedatiwa said operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, alongside personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, stormed the hotel and arrested the suspects during the operation.

He added that the suspects have since remained in custody as investigations continue into the matter.

The governor further stated that intelligence gathered indicated the Government House was their intended target.

“We have been doing so much. I will give you an example. I think it’s about three or four months ago, some youth, about five of them, they wanted to bomb the government house.

“They were in their hotel, they didn’t move into a rented apartment, and they had all the equipment, all the gadgets.

“We got an intelligence report, and the police and Amotekun moved in, busted them in the house, where they were arrested.

“They are still in detention right now. Their mission was to bomb the government house. For what reason? Only God knows,” he said.

He added that the incident reflects ongoing security efforts in the state, noting that isolated cases should not be interpreted as a lack of action by security agencies.
