Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has explained the reasons behind his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the party structure in Delta State was effectively taken over following the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Omo-Agege made the claims during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Wednesday.

The former Delta State governorship candidate alleged that loyal APC members who worked for the party during the 2023 elections were sidelined during recent party congresses, describing the process as unfair and exclusionary.

According to him, the restructuring of the party in the state did not reflect the contributions of long-standing members.

“My decision to leave the APC was not taken lightly. After deep reflection and wide consultations, I found that the party structure in Delta State had been completely taken over following the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” he said.

“The loyal members who laboured for the party in 2023 were pushed aside during the recent congresses.”

Omo-Agege said he has now embraced a new political direction under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), where he pledged his support for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as a leader with a people-focused agenda Nigeria urgently needs.

“In the NDC, I now align with Peter Obi because I believe he represents a people-first leadership that Nigeria urgently needs,” he stated.

He added that while he previously supported former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu during his time in the APC, his loyalty has now shifted to his new party and its presidential candidate.

“Now that I am in the NDC, my loyalty is to my party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi,” he said.

Omo-Agege also dismissed reports suggesting he lost the NDC senatorial ticket in Delta Central, insisting he won across all eight local government areas in the district, and that the party had yet to officially release or ratify results.

He described such reports as false and politically motivated.

The former Deputy Senate President further criticised the Oborevwori administration, alleging that over ₦3 trillion accrued to Delta State in the last three years without visible developmental impact.

He also claimed that about ₦750 billion remains unutilized in government accounts, while residents continue to face poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and poor infrastructure.

Speaking on the Delta governorship race, Omo-Agege expressed confidence in the NDC candidate, describing him as experienced and capable of delivering good governance.

He emphasized that leadership should be judged by performance and responsible management of public resources rather than titles.
