Ondo Lawyer Rebukes Police For Inaction Against Attacker

An Ondo-based legal practitioner, Abayomi Oladire, has accused the state police command of negligence in apprehending Kunle Kuteyi, who allegedly attacked and stabbed him over a divorce case. The lawyer recounted that Kuteyi, aggrieved by Oladire’s involvement in his divorce proceedings with his wife Taibat, confronted and assaulted him, alleging that Oladire was dating his wife. Oladire clarified that he had been assisting Taibat with legal advice and was prepared to withdraw from the case upon her request to reconcile with her husband.

Describing the attack, Oladire stated, “He rushed at me, accusing me of meddling in his marital affairs, and proceeded to stab me multiple times with a broken bottle. I defended myself to prevent more serious injuries.”

Expressing frustration over the police’s handling of the case, Oladire emphasized, “Despite my formal report, the suspect is freely moving around town. It is alarming that the police have not taken action to arrest him.”

In response, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, refuted claims of negligence, stating that no such incident was formally reported at any police station in Ondo town. She assured that appropriate measures would be taken if a formal complaint is lodged.

The situation underscores growing concerns over security and law enforcement efficacy in the region, as Oladire seeks justice and safety assurances following the violent attack.
