The township of Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area, Ondo State, was plunged into grief on Saturday due to a tragic accident that resulted in the loss of two siblings’ lives.
The identities of the siblings were still unknown at the time of this report. The incident occurred when a truck carrying sand collided with their motorcycle at the Idi-Mango section of Ore along the Okitipupa-Ore highway.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred due to the siblings’ carelessness as they attempted to merge onto the highway with their motorcycle.
Witnesses revealed that the truck, loaded with sand, was unable to avoid the motorcycle due to the siblings’ misjudgment, leading to the fatal collision.
An anonymous resident recounted, “They were trying to join the road from Idi-Mango when they suddenly realized the truck was approaching. It seems they didn’t adequately check for oncoming vehicles.”
Following the incident, the truck driver fled the scene, and the truck was subsequently taken to the police station in Ore.
Confirming the accident, Ezekiel SonAllah, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, emphasized the importance of motorcyclists avoiding over-speeding on the highway.
SonAllah disclosed that the victims’ bodies were deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary in Ore, while the involved vehicles were handed over to the NPF Ore Division for further investigation.
